Benefits
Remember when you could call to talk to a local representative about your benefits problems, instead of entering into the grueling process that is now in place? The centralization of our benefits programs at Northrop Grumman has caused numerous problems for represented and non-represented employees. Representatives at the Benefits Center have repeatedly given incorrect information to our members, and most recently, pension information has almost been impossible to get. Given the size of Northrop Grumman, I can understand how confusing it must be to differentiate between the thousands of employees and their plans but, “if you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen.” If we at Northrop Grumman performed our jobs in the same manner as these Plan Administrators, I would venture to say that we would be out of business. If it wasn’t for the efforts of the two Benefits Representatives at ES in Baltimore, we would be at a loss on many issues. Their intervention has saved many people the aggravation of dealing with a recorded voice, or an individual who is seated hundreds of miles away. Our Corporate Benefits Managers need to see the positives in having a larger Local presence of Benefits Representatives. If they would allow it, I am sure that the efficiency of the system as a whole would improve.

9/80
Our pilot program will come to an end on June 27, 2008. Management is in the process of reviewing the program to determine if it will be continued. To date, I have only received positive feedback from management and our members. It is my intent to continue the program, assuming that management will also be in favor. After their review is complete, they will be meeting with us to discuss details. Information will be given in plenty of time for us to make personal decisions.

Golf Outing
Our First Annual Golf Outing will take place on June 7, 2008. Proceeds will be placed in a Scholarship Fund to be given to sons and daughters of S.E.A. members, or grandchildren of S.E.A. retirees. There has been a good response so far, and we appreciate the many golfers and sponsors that have come forward. More information will be sent to members and retirees concerning the application and selection process for the scholarships.
